TokTravel vs TikTok collections vs Google Maps lists
If you plan trips from TikTok, you probably use one of three things to keep track: TikTok's own collections, a list in Google Maps, or an app made for it. We make one of those apps, TokTravel, so read this knowing that. We have tried to be fair, including about what TokTravel can't do.

TikTok collections
Good for keeping the videos that inspired you, sorted by trip. Not good for planning: there is no map, and you still have to work out what each place is called, one video at a time.
Google Maps lists
Good for a map of places you have already looked up, and the place most people will open for directions anyway. It works on every phone. Mostly the work is yours: you find each name, search it, check it and save it. On iPhone in US English, Google Maps can also spot places in your screenshots and offer to save them, if you switch that on. The list doesn't remember which video a place came from, and there is no day-by-day plan.
TokTravel
Made for the step in between: you share a travel video or paste its link, and if its caption or description names a place, TokTravel finds it on a map and shows you the places it found. You save the ones you want to a map and lists, group them by country, city or type, and plan a trip by day. A place opens in Google Maps from its page.
What it can't do: it reads only the text that comes with a video, so a place that is only shown or spoken is not found. A match can be wrong, so check it before you rely on it. It is iPhone only, and it is not out yet.
Which one should you use?
- You save a few travel videos a year: TikTok collections plus Google Maps lists are enough.
- You are on Android: Google Maps lists.
- You save travel videos all the time and never turn them into a plan: that is who TokTravel is for.
